Conan the Barbarian: The Horn of Azoth (1990) Pages 49-50

Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway received 'story by' credit for the 1984 film 'Conan the Destroyer,' the one with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Grace Jones. But their story had been substantially altered by Hollywood screenwriter Stanley Mann, so they felt justified in publishing their original idea in comic book form.

The pages are titled "Inventory." These were extra stories commissioned each month by Marvel in case some other project fell through, and a hole opened in the publication schedule which would cause problems with printer contracting. A story like this might have ended up in one of Marvel's monthly Conan comic series or magazines. Instead, it became Marvel Graphic Novel #59; quite a few in that series featured Conan or Kull.. note that the idol ‘s name changed from “Dagoth” to “Azoth” at some point in production.

In this scene, the priest's daughter touches the eponymous horned statue, bringing a massive demon to life. Conan's buddy Rammon flings a dagger to kill her first, but the priest is having none of that. The priest lives about five seconds after the demon awakes.
