I, too, was not allowed to drink the Kool-Aid. I share in your passion for surgary drinks and destruction of brick walls.

Kool-Aid Man was "oooooh yeeeeaaah-ing" long before Macho Man.

First of all, this is the epitome of the type of cheap FUN you can still get through collecting in this hobby. A very high content quality page, too! I remember the ads for this very fondly. You had to send away for the comic, having already been bitten by the collecting aspect of the hobby, I knew there was no way the comic would arrive in anything better then vg condition when arriving by mail, so I never bothered.

My mom also refused to buy Kool-Aid because it was made purely out of sugar. But unlike yourself, I no longer drink sugery drinks, so my teeth are fine! Oh, I was speaking to another collector just yesterday about HIS Kool-Aid Man page, which just happens to be the page with THE money shot smack dab in the middle of the page. He couldn't figure out if it was Mike or Dan DeCarlo and now we have Jim entering the arena, whoever he is. Anyway, show this page some love as well if you can...The Adventures of Kool-Aid #3 Page 20

This issue is chock full of DeCarlos. And yeah, a crashing through the wall page would be great, but I'm glad to have this because sometimes cheap doesn't mean plentiful.  I can actually open up two slots in my saved searches on CAF now because I had dedicated them to finding a Kool-Aid Man page.  Now that I've accomplished that mission, I can shift my energy to finding original art of another tooth-destroying character, Bazooka Joe.

Fantastic page from a really fun series! I have a couple pages from the first issue and I love them. DeCarlo was, in my opinion, at his peak in the 1980s and his Kool-Aid Man comic art is some of my favorite. Congrats!

Ooooh yeah!

Bazooka Joe should b easy enough, as Topps sold off all their original strip art years ago, maybe around the mid 2000's. So there's plenty of it out there. I'm sure you could find some strips on eBay sooner rather than later. I must say though, I always preferred the medicine-like taste of Bazooka's competitor, Double Bubble!

Amazing!  This is one of the first comics I read as a wee one.  Dan DeCarlo is a titan of the field and seeing this page makes me smile.  I also really admire the Kool-Aid Man's devotion to branding and the fact that he is holding a pitcher of Kool-Aid even while being interviewed on a live television broadcast.  

Kool-Aid Man always has his pitcher with him because you never know when someone will need a cool refreshing glass of Kool-Aid (bring your own cup)!

Oh yeah is right!!!!! This has big time nostalgia factor. I just wanted to hang out with him.

Happy CAFiversasry!!  And you chose a really fun page of art to celebrate!  But I'm not sure why were so surprised about the “Other Food & Beverage Ads" eBay category.  I mean, that's where I find all my best art.  Lol.  But seriously, it just goes to show that you can find art in the most amazing places!  But yeah, great page.  Just love having the character of Big Thirstie on this one.  I had never seen him before.  Reminds me of Barry Goldberg's rap non de plume of 'Big Tasty.'  Probably because I am about to watch the latest episode of The Goldbergs.  Thanks for sharing this one, and keep on CAFing!! 

Thanks!  And yeah, I've now expanded my search for original art to pet stores and supermarkets, because you never know!  In all serious though, I just recalled for the first time in many, many years that there was a storefront in my neighborhood when I was a kid for a guy who customized and installed windows (not the Bill Gates kind). It was the last place you expected to find them, but they had a box of comic books that they sold out of the back corner of the shop.  Talk about finding comics in an unexpected place.  Maybe one day one of us will set foot in a dry cleaners and they will have a stack of Bronze Age art for sale.

Kool-Aid was a staple in my house. When my mom made it, she made with 1-1/2 packets of Kool-Aid and then, using those big kitchen spoons to stir soup, she added 2 spoonfuls of that in just sugar. When I made it, I'd added two complete packets of Kool-Aid and 3 kitchen spoonfuls of sugar. My mom's response: that's too much Kool-Aid. Happy CAFFY, bru (I've been watching BLOOD DIAMOND).

congrats on your caf anniversary. you make caf and wonderful place and your interview was a great watch and one of my 1st's. i love cartoon book art. sometimes going through caf i can get tired of seeing superhero / horror page and i need something fun to look at. this is one of those pages. congrats big buddy. thanks for being a part of =)
