DescriptionCard has the inscribed personal message in ink: "Boys and Girls: Mickey is the idol of England. Long may he reign. - W B Levy". ---- In June 1930 Levy, already in England managing Powers Cinephone (which had recorded "Steamboat Willie" in New York), was named by Walt to be his merchandise representative there. Because of Levy's energetic approach to licensing during that first year, collectors will find that many of the earliest Disney items were either manufactured or distributed from the English base. Levy then in 1938 launched the "Mickey Mouse Weekly" in partnership with Odhams Press, Ltd. Later Levy returned to the United States to help launch the first public issue of Disney stock and eventually became "World Wide Sales Supervisor" of the Disney films.--- Information tapped from the writings of Cecil Munsey.Social/Sharing |
