Description

This still life watercolor was once owned by James Orrock, a dentist who was one of the major collectors and dealers of Hunt's work in the late 19th and early 20th century. When he owned it he lent the work to the 1887 Royal Jubilee Exhibition in Manchester and the 1880-1881 Exhibition of of works of William Hunt and Samuel Prout at the Fine Art Society, a major dealer of Victorian Art in London.

Remarkably done before the age of color photography! Nice to see how advanced the paintings were at this point in time.
