Action Comics 1048 the new Gods.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I can't help mentioning it again. I've never seen these characters appear so realistically, as if they could step out of the comic and stand living right in front of us. It makes them look so much more regal and imposing, almost like actual Gods!

You  can mention  it again Ruben. Lol  It is a credit to Mike the thought of placement  of each character that makes it stand out. You have the leader, the warrior. And the devil in the darkness. Each fitting  like pieces to a puzzle.with each getting their space to shine.

A majestic entrance in the big and bold Kirby manner!  Perkins' art immediately gives them a pronounced presence with all the amazing effects as then enter through the Boom Tube.  You can feel the heat rising by the embers floating up all around them. 

It really is an attention  grabber the way each figure stands out as an individual  but still in a group setting.

Boy howdy, what a top splash!  Beautiful (and viable, just as Rubén pointed out!) modern depictions of the Kirby classics.  Although Bippo's obviously seen better... ;)  I sincerely hope this story will not be anywhere near the last time we get to see Mike draw these characters, but you are SET, my friend, should that prove to be the case.  A stunning "drawing back of the curtain" to showcase Mike's take on these signature characters, complete with Perkins inkwash smoke tendrils (I LOVE those! :) ).  Booming congrats, Brian!

Who knows what the future holds? But for now at least, the issue after this one (#1049) is indeed the last time we'll see Perkins handle these characters. The wonderful thing about seeing an artist who has been exclusive to one of the Big Two publishers for 14 years before ultimately going exclusive with the other, is that we slowly but surely get to see his depictions of a whole entire universe of new characters for the first time and every time he moves on to a new project, I'm excited to see who's next!

thanks jason. the only thing I regret is that this isn't a full page splash. I think even though it is great as is. a full page would look fantastic to give an even more dramatic entrance the the new Gods. Plus I love a full splash LOL  

anything Mike does  next I will be fully on board with,he is that good. I hope it has something to do with adventures in space because what he could do with a whole universe to draw would be awesome.
