Description
After Robert Maitland crashes his Jaguar on the Westway, he is stranded on the motorway underpass. The architect becomes a modern-day Robinson Crusoe, forced to mesh the reality of his isolation with the overlying metaphor of his peculiarly C20th predicament.

A beautiful image from a series of covers Moore painted for Paladin Flamingo in the early 1990s. Ballard's thematic prose is perennially relevant, and the updating of the cover for a book first published in 1973 (part of Ballard's Urban Disaster trilogy with Crash and High-Rise) is perfectly judged.

That's not easy to paint.  It looks photographic with how well this reflection is shown.  And it had to be perfect as it is the sole element of the art.
