Spawn: The Impaler 2 p.27

This is from a 3-issue series written and drawn by Mike Grell, who took the Vlad "the Impaler" Tepesh figure from Romanian history and wove it into the Spawn mythology; basically Spawn as Dracula.

I only had the ability to read issue 2 for many years so that is the one I am most fond of, which made my day to have won this from a sentimental perspective. From an artistic end of things, Grells tight pencils were the finished work and I feel they translated remarkably well from a slightly smaller format than the printed results. Rob Prior did separate, finished paintings of Grells pencils for every page of this series and they are unique as they are beautiful.

Being a huge fan of the Coppola Dracula film (rubbish accents aside), I feel like Grells telling did a excellent job capturing the horror and eroticism elements of Draculas story in a way that I could really sink my teeth into as an adolescent. (There has to be at least one vampire pun;)
