Description
The second of three art days to close out 2022.

Earlier this year I got my first Mignola piece. I kind of figured that would be it for a long time. I love Mike's work, but most of the pieces that I'd be interested in don't come up for sale often. But no sooner than I framed up my first piece and hung it on the wall, this beauty came up for sale.

I remember seeing the Topps Dracula book on the stands. I didn't pick it up. There were just too many other X books to buy. But later, after Hellboy made his splash, I learned just how great this series was and fell in love with Mignola's style, page layouts and – of course – his heavy use of black ink.

I started looking for a Dracula page a couple of years ago. But all of the good ones were always locked away. And while this one doesn't have Dracula – in any of his many forms – it sure brings the drama. Lucy lays in state watched over by her suiters (or slayers) and Dr. Van Helsing. A few candles shed a puddle of light in a sea of mournful blackness.j

This is going to look great on my wall.

The mood and intensity are all there even in this solemn scene.  This series is around the time Mignola made a turn to horror themes where the darkness in ink became his friend.

I had been looking for a nice Dracula page as well, and was really eye balling this one.  Just wish I had the funds to give you a run for your money.  Gorgeous, gorgeous, piece.  Congratulations!

Gorgeous Dracula cover by Mike Mignola! I think he used more ink on this one than any of his Hellboy covers--And that's saying a lot!
