Description
This is a simply gorgeous double page spread from a well-remembered series. It features a detailed (and panoramic) view of Shang-Chi's battle against the Si-Fan Warriors. The fine detail and inking are simply superb. Gene Day was a really wonderful artist who (unfortunately) left us far too early. I had wanted to say more but there are pieces - such as these - which should be simply left to speak for themselves.

It's like we're watching a Master of Kung-Fu film play out at the cinema. So panoramic! The lighting is masterful as well and truly makes you feel like you're right there, watching the events play out in front of you but without being able to do anything about it!

Many thanks as always, Rubén!  Panoramic is indeed the word!  And you have managed to capture the point in words - it isn't a film but it certainly feels like it!

One of the BEST double page spreads in the series!  And actually, in comics period!  Congrats CAB!

Thanks so much, Duke!  Yes, it was artistically so impressive that I felt especially committed to try to get it.  As mentioned, Gene Day was such a great artist and seemed especially suited for this particular series.

An ambush revealed!  The fighting spirit of Shang-Chi is also illuminated!

Many thanks, Dino!  It is so detailed, yet doesn't come across at all at being cluttered in any way.

So glad this one can be enlarged to see those characteristically gorgeous and detailed inks that Gene Day is famous for.  Major congrats on a true beauty!

Thanks so much, Paul!  It did cost quite a bit (from my perspective) but it was well worth it.

This is stunning.   I was thrilled to get my page.  The second page bottom tier is incredibly designed.   This is cinematography art at it's best.   Gene Day should have been a household name in Comics.   Terrific pickup.

Magnificent pick up, CAB!  Such an incredibly panoramic and cinematic spread - sheer artistry!  I remember reading Dave Sim say that Gene left the lid off his ink to thicken it up and get the darkest, blackest ink you'd ever see on a comic page, and that might help explain how vibrant (can pitch black be said to be "vibrant"?) and alive (same question here :) ) those inks are here.  But even taking that into account, my favorite thing here is the negative space arm & fist in the bottom right.  The cherry on the top of an overstuffed cake!  What a beauty!  Sincere congrats, CAB!  Outstanding pick up!

Thanks so much, Jason!  And many thanks for letting me know the story about Gene thickening the ink - the inks are indeed truly "vibrant"!
