Description
Commemorating the "Do A Powerbomb" collected trade paperback release on 3/1/23, series creator/writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson travelled from Illinois to appear at The Escapist Comic Book Store in Berkeley, California for a book signing. I picked up the book which he signed and sketched Cobrasun within. He also signed and put a little sketch of Murder Falcon on my Fender Strat guitar. I also picked up one of the Do A Powerbomb black and white prints with a full figure drawing.

My choice for the DWJ sketch is the Bill Cox of the pro wrestling world, Vince McMahon! A ruthless and malevolent boss in front of the cameras and behind the scenes in the WWE through different eras of the business. He did take the carny business into the modern age of streaming, bringing in almost every US territory of wrestling under his heel back in the 80's. He then went toe to toe and bought out Ted Turner's WCW. The only opposition was the wrestlers themselves when his evil boss persona became his own wrestling gimmick and they could exact some physical retribution. Now that his real life evils have been exposed, you can look back and think how much hate was deserved!

DWJ’s love of the pageantry, the long form storytelling, wild costumes and characters, the pyrotechnics, soap opera, and the moves and action of the pro-wrestling world shines in "Do A Powerbomb". All the make believe translates easily into funny superhero books we read. He put a lot of heart into this story and is just as good for those not familiar with wrestling. At its core, the story is about a quest in the journey of dealing with grief, and the acceptance of loss. Not something you'd find in a Wrestlemania. When you reach its satisfying conclusion, it is a tale that you won’t soon forget.

Awesome piece. I was contemplating how I could possibly get to Berkley that day in lieu of the children and then remembered it was impossible lol.

Saw the extra pics (should drink my coffee before posting).  I love how happy DWJ looks with that Fender. Super cool stuff, and thank you for sharing!

A cool triptych of remarks by DWJ. I find the idea of a B&W print where you can add other characters of your choice is just brilliant!

When they were on the livestream & DWJ listing who he hadn't been asked to draw yet, I kept waiting to hear Mr. McMahon—this project wouldn't have been complete without him!

An inspired character choice, and DWJ really delivered!  Great expression and pose on McMahon.  Congrats as well on the remarques in the TPB and on the guitar!

Looks like the event was a lot of fun. You almost have me convinced to try reading a comic related to pro wrestling! British Bulldogs 4Ever!

Bulldogs?  Why not the good Ol' Canadian faction of the Hart Foundation?

Drew a Powerbomb!  Great Remarque, Marcus - always quite a score to net a DWJ original... and I love the "Fender Bender", especially!  Murder Falcon, FTW!  Congrats, sir!
