Description
Here's a piece I've owned since 2008, which I'm finally sharing on CAF. This is the "birth page" of the Abomination, who's remained one of the more prominent Hulk villains over the years. I got this in trade with Ruben DaCollector and I'm still using his scan (thanks Ruben!) as it's large art and a pain to re-scan.

This is one of those pieces that I love more every year. I was a big Gil Kane collector at the time of the trade and while my Kane collection has diminished, I've really gotten into Hulk art in recent years. Plus like most people I really love first appearance pages and they're hard to come by.

The 4th panel was modified for publication as they switched the Abomination face to the front and the Blonsky face to the back. There might have been a stat on the art at some point as there's some glue staining there. I personally think the original image is more dramatic than the published version.

So....when you say "This is one of those pieces that I love more every year.", I take it a Frazetta Johnny Comet daily plus some cash wouldn't tempt you to part with this? 😆

Gil's run on TTA was short but memorable, if only for this issue--there's no debating this own, that's a TRUE first appearance page!

No Hulk and that's even better that Abomination doesn't have to share any spotlight since he's only gotten more important with age.  This is pure Kane and pure Abomination!

Wow!  When it comes to this hobby, truly is hard to top a suit up or transformation page IMO, let alone a stunner like this!  And the Abomination's first appearance?!  Whew!  Huge congrats, Ted!

Historic page! This is still very early Marvel work for Kane, and his style is probably more like his Green Lantern art - especially that lower left panel. But the dynamic depiction of the Abomination is already feeling more in the Marvel style. The storytelling in the top tier is fabulous. This is a mightily impressive page!
