DescriptionArtwork by Paul Murry is very rare from the period of 1950`ies and 1960`ies.Nearly all of Murry`s early artwork was destroyed by Western Publishing. This half-page is from 1960 and comes from the story : "The Pineapple Poachers". Do notice the rainy weatheron this half page..! Murry was an true expert in making these weather-scenarios. The story is written by Carl Fallberg. Social/Sharing |

Great half page by Murry, the rain effect is really outstanding! I can't believe how poor is the published version compared to the original... Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Yes, even in the newly published Disney Masters version. The rain look so much better in the original. And in the last panel they have chosen to make Mickey and Goofy completely black.
However I still like the Disney Masters book a lot due to the stories are published chronologically and they have chosen good quality dull paper and a the new coloring is in a classic style (I think they called it improved facsimile). It seems that we may get the long WDC stories plus some extra. The last published story was The Moon-Blot Plot. So they have published the stories from 1953 to 1961 plus a extra book containing the Phantom Blot.

These astounding illustrations gave these stories a quality higher than what they could publish at. The rain is just a great vehicle to keep adding lines to the artwork.

Awesome page, I love the Murry pages where Murry is drawing rain or fog.
