DescriptionI decided I'd like to add 1 page from each book that moved me in the 70's. Nova was on my list. Nova was trying to be my generations Spider-Man. For me it worked. I bought this issue off the stand at 12 years old. I loved the book and liked his goofy villains. Diamond Head first appeared in this issue and was Nova's main villain for a bit. The Condor was also introduced later in this issue but I preferred this page (in the HA's auction) with Nova being in 6 of the 7 panels. I am not a 'first appearance' collector, I have no desire t go down that rabbit hole, but for fun I looked up Diamond Head and he was around more than I recalled. Good old Diamond Head appeared in Nova 3 (1976), 6-8 (Feb.-April 1977), #10 (June 1977), #22-25 (Nov. 1978-May 1979), Fantastic Four #206 (May 1979), #208-209 (July-Aug. 1979), ROM #24 (Nov. 1981), Quasar #16 (Nov. 1990), #20 (March 1991), The New Warriors Annual #1 (1991), Nova vol. 2 #1 (Jan. 1994), #10 (Oct. 1994), Nova: The Human Rocket #2 (June 1999), Civil War: Front Line #9 (Feb. 2007), and Nova vol. 4 #2 (July 2007). Wow- he wasn't the flash in the pan I thought he was from the 70's. Here is HA's write up.Sal Buscema and Tom Palmer Nova #3 Story Page 30 Original Art (Marvel, 1976). "The Deadly Diamondhead Is Ready to Strike!" Nova is confronting Diamondhead on a fast moving train. His overconfident opponent's recklessness ends with a fine onomatopoeia in panel four! Sal Buscema's dynamic art is done in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The edges are trimmed. Tape residue at the top and bottom and marginal editorial marks in blue pencil. Marvel stamp on the back. In Excellent condition Social/Sharing |

Tom's inks look as good on Sal as it did on his big brother. Sweet page with some fun dialog and great action.

Sal Buscema and Palmer on Nova were a great combination. And you if you want a Nova page, it has to have at least one panel with the jet-like flying effect. Great example!

That Diamondhead has got rocks for brains! Everything on the page has flow of direction and force! Fortunately, Nova is in control of himself and his surroundings.

Great Sal storytelling, paired with crisp, clever inks from Palmer. Goofy is right, but the sequence really works and draws the reader in.
