Description
20”x33” (frame 25”x38”) Painted in 1982; purchased in 2003. Cover for the paperback book by Andre Norton of the same name, published by Daw Books in 1982. I found the prelim online sometime afterwards.

Love the composition of this one.

Even more "on the half-shell" than that other venus, she is further protected from the peril by a canopy of purple clouds. So lovely, even planet-orbs draw near (can't say I blame them!)

Fun fact(?): I have the same title by Kevin Eugene Johnson (haven't uploaded the photo yet). He portrays the heroine riding a tri-headed sea dragon! I really should read these books to understand why the covers are so diverse!!

Funny. I have only read two of the books for which any of my paintings adorn the covers. I'll love the images and leave it to the artists and art directors to figure out the association with the stories. Smile.
