I am a total fan of all that treasure under a the beast. My eyes are twinking with all that gold. Great piece.

Really cool contrast of the red on Smaug vs the treasure surrouding. The little thief is a nice touch :) Congrats!

Thank you, Kahlil! David Wenzel excels in color contrasts in his watercolor painting. He knows how to play primary colors off of each other.

I love the beautiful color contrast and I especially love the detai in the old dragon's face.

David really captured the malevolence of Smaug beautifully in his arrogant, baleful expression. Thanks for the comment, my friend!

Gorgeous painting of Smaug! David Wenzel did a masterful job here of portraying the dragon laying on his treasure. Wenzel's Smaug is appropriately arrogant-looking and somewhat smug as well. Fun that he tucked a tiny Bilbo Baggins amidst the treasure. Fantastic piece, congrats!

Thank you very much, Bill! I agree that David did a masterful job in portraying Smaug as he really is -- arrogant, entitled and deadly.
