1969 Roger Rog Bollen Lyle Lion Original Art Page Pinup Drawing Commission Specialty Piece Animal Crackers

Original hand-drawn Roger "Rog" Bollen specialty art piece, which we believe features Lyle The Lion from his classic newspaper comic strip Animal Crackers. Bollen is well-known for the classic strips Animal Crackers, Funny Business, and Catfish, and this is a truly excellent example of his work. The piece is done on construction-type paper, which measures approximately 11" by 13 1/2". Please note the piece does have some handling and edgewear, with bend/crease lines in each of the corners, as well as edgewear along the middle left side edge. You do often see original Bollen strips available in the marketplace, but a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork like this is truly special and rare, particularly something this early from the 1960's, as we believe the strip started in 1967.
