Description
A very nice half-splash revealing the heroine of the story, Felicity of the Omega Men discovering the little kitty that his mother hid inside the town.

In the first splashy panel, I love how natural Felicity’s body language looks as she picks the kitten off the ground. Her face looks perfect as anyone would being struck by the cuteness of the kitten which appears to be quite the feisty one as he is spitting at her. Great spot-on little detail of having the ears of the kitten arched back. Also notice how clear the panel looks despite the insert and the pile of garbage that Spiegle used to (give a sense of) clutter to the panel AND lead the reader’s eye to the right.

The second inserted panel is the cute moment. I love his take on the character who looks both like a humanoid and a feline whereas some artists would have simply drawn a cat head on a human body (Starlin or Spiegle himself in the last panel). I find his rendition more subtle than most (artists draw cat-based characters/aliens).

One reserve is how the kitten looks, licking her cheek. The way he is drawn, he looks more like a happy dog than a cat (would when licking) as we get a more “disneyed” version here.

Second reserve in the third panel as Felicity put kitty inside her bag. He seems happy, even purring, whereas she is holding him by his leg. Whether you own a cat or not, try holding a cat that way to see how well it will go (for you and him) and I can assure you there is few chances it will end up well with him purring on top.

In the fourth panel, we have the guards from the previous pages still looking for mommy sprintcat when Felicity is taking her kitty further inside the city. I’d say that mommy sprintcat achieved her goal on this beautiful page.

Wow, no wonder you go to the gym so often. You really DO get as much pussy cat as you said you do! They must be crawling all over the place...

Sweet!  This feels Steve Rude smooth to me... I think it's the guard's posture and straight-on camera angle in the last panel that seals it, after being set up with those two great Rude-y first panels.  An absolutely Rum-Tum-Tugger of a page from Dan Spiegle here that features enough felines to open its own long-running Broadway musical!  Beautiful page, F M!

Felicity has such a cute face in the second panel.  :-)  I said elsewhere that I thought Felicity was DC Comics' sexiest woman.  But I specifically mean Dan Spiegle's version in this comic.  I also like Keith Giffen's version in her earliest appearances, Todd McFarlane's version in "Invasion", and how she looked in that one "Teen Titans Spotlight" issue.  But for most of the "Omeg Men" run she was drawn with a very "catlike" face.  Particulary a big pink muzzle.  I don't mean to badmouth the artists, but I'm afraid that version made her look hideous.

I understand furry fans who'd complain that Felicity looks too humanlike here.  Omaha has a better design in terms of looking catlike.  But I like how Felicity's face still suggests a feline motif.  Her cat ears are prominent.  She has very cute freckles that suggest whiskers.  And what I like the most is her harelip.  Her harelip definitely makes me think of a cat's face.  Now of course a harelip in humans can be a crippling deformity.  But Felicity's harelip looks so natural on her.
