Description

Adding a few more vintage Hughes pages to the collection from my favorite Lady Death series, Between Heaven & Hell.

For me, this is when Steven was firing on all cylinders and really mastering his craft. The layouts, inks and dynamics on every page were a sight to behold. These two pages feature Purgatori lusting for a tastes of Lucifers blood even after getting the smackdown. Twice! Good stuff.

Bad girl comic art of the 90's was majorly influenced by the rising talent of Steven Hughes and Lady Death. It brought taboo subjects into the mainstream and to prominance. By 1995, he was firmly entrenched as one of the best in the genre and this shows a full confidence of action and sensuality put on one page!

Gorgeous Lady Death page from Steven Hughes! Love the composition and the figurework in the scenes Hughes used on this page. Those two closeups in the opening two panels are so well drawn. So is the central panel with the violent backhand. And what a great final panel as she attacks. Very strong scenes. And the inkwork is superb throughout. Hughes creates a great sense of the physicality of these two. Brilliant work!

Wow. This is a very memorable page of Purgatori vs Lucifer in the headstrong classic by the master. Every panel here is perfect. Congrats good buddy.
