DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!Pair of Crescent illustration boards w/mixed media original art for front cover of box for VHS release of The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Hollywood Follies. The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones was a series of made-for-television films based on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV show, both starring Sean Patrick Flanery in the title role. Originally titled Young Indiana Jones And The Hollywood Follies, it was constructed from Hollywood, Early August 1920 and Newhall, Late August 1920, teleplays intended for the third season of the show before it was canceled. It debuted Oct. 15, 1994 and was later re-titled The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Hollywood Follies for release on VHS and DVD as the twenty-second and final chapter in The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones. Art was created by noted entertainment illustrator Mike Butkus, who provided art for many Young Indiana Jones home media releases. While Indiana Jones movie poster artist Drew Struzan continued providing art for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Butkus was brought in as his style was rather similar to the detailed, yet stylized Struzan style Indiana Jones fans had come to expect. Offered here is a fully realized, mixed media original art character study of Flanery as Young Indy on 11x17" board w/vellum overlay attached at bottom (above bottom margin Butkus used while using watercolors to create piece). Butkus has signed art on Indy's shoulder and art is Exc. Larger 15x21-1/8" board features fully realized art as used on VHS box, w/smaller image of Flanery (in same style as seen on study) along w/co-stars Allison Smith and Bill Cusack. Art features beautiful use of color, w/artist's watercolor splotches at lower right margin. Exc. Of note, art is more extensive than seen on VHS box (an example is included in this lot), which cropped some amazing detail seen in Butkus's original art. Back of board has taped reference photo of Flanery in costume, his expression perfectly captured by Butkus on both the study and finished art. Social/Sharing |
