Description

Here's another great, but overpriced Dave Cockrum prelim that I couldn't resist.

The image of Chewbacca choking C3PO and bashing Luke is just too funny. The published cover was by the awesome art team of John Byrne and Terry Austin, but there's just something more charming about this version. The published figures look a bit stiff compared with the prelim.

As a reminder, I'm always interested in very finished Cockrum cover prelims, similar to the ones in this gallery.

For a rougher lived in universe of Star Wars, a cover prelim with the more raw ideas makes sense. It was a contrast to the 50's and 60's science fiction look of clean space age artificial plastic. Really nice how they took the line from C3-PO as the starting point for Cockrum.
