"Questions. For every answer I get, there are more questions.

Things used to make sense but now theyre just getting crazier: plots, deals, heaven and hell. Angels and demons running lose on the streets of New York.

And me, what am I? What am I really?

Once I was Al Simmons, but I got shafted. Sent to hell.

I made a deal with the Devil and got shafted all over again. Story of my friggin' life. And death. I gave him my soul, he gave me a whole mess of grief and pain.

And now I'm some kind of undead freak with face like a stale pizza and story that's shot to hell."

Most OA collectors would agree that nothing beats the black and white original pen and ink renderings. Taking nothing away from art in that form, these color guides are absolutely gorgeous. When I look at it, it's like reading the comic itself. Very pleased and grateful to have this example of prime Spawn in Steve Oliff's exquisite full color detail.

This issue is also where we see Greg Capullo taking over pencil duties as well as first appearance of the Redeemer.
