Beautiful! Congrats!
The pencils have everything you need to show how impressive Ross can design a cover and bring a realistic look that symbolize the high ideals of the characters like Cap! The one thing about Ross is that his art has eye appeal to even non comics readers.
V nice Ross.
It's not often you get to pick up the piece of art that got you into collecting or one that has such a memorable image, so congrats on getting that here! Bonus points on it being an Alex Ross Captain America piece.
Prelim shmrelim! These pencils look so finished, so tight. Definitely works as a standalone piece. Congrats!
Awesome piece! Congrats!
Outstanding prelim by Alex Ross for his cover to Captain America #2. To me, this prelim is almost as powerful as the painted cover. You have Cap holding an American flag in his grip, staring down as if trying to come to terms with where America is today, compared to when he fought with us in WWII. It's a pensive cover, not full of bombast and jingoism, but quiet and contemplative, which is a feeling a lot of Americans share today. I think it's quite brilliant.
Thanks! Had to look up 'jingoism' but I am glad to say that we are in agreement. I can see the pensive & contemplative take in this piece as well. But I also see a little defiance & "not on my watch" when I look at it.
Honestly, when I saw it on the shelves way back when, it immediately reminded me of the pep talk Cap gave to Spider-Man in ASM #537. That was a great JMS/Garney page if ever there was one and this image always personified that dialogue in my eyes.
I had been eyeing this piece for a while, beautiful. Such depth, just amazing! Congrats!
Wonderful Cap cover!
Wow! What a prelim!
Alex Ross ' prelims are always frame-worthy!
Congrats!
Brilliant artist, wonderful prelim!
