Pistolero - Issue 59 (cover art)

As anyone who collects comic art knows, a printed piece can never live up to holding the original artwork in your hands. While this is the case even with black and white inked interiors, it's even more true when dealing with painted pieces.

I'm fortunate to have several great examples of Rafael Gallur's painted cover art in my collection. This one is among the favorites and a great example of original art blowing away the printed piece. Even a scan can't quite capture the vibrancy of the color choices he made.

This particular piece was used as the cover for issue 59 of Pistolero and like many of the covers Gallur did for that series features the gun-wielding character Joe along with a beautiful sidekick who is once again facing danger while wearing heels and dangling earrings.
