The faces are so contemporary and the hair is so well permed and coiffed for the 70's! This was advanced illustration by Smith that was even too elaborate to accompany prose works. A work of passion and labor of love to go beyond anything else on the stands and anything he had done before.

Loved these early Conan the Barbarian pages by Barry Windsor Smith! They looked like nothing I'd ever seen before in comics. The style was nothing like the superhero books I loved to read, but there was something about BWS's art that kept drawing me in. It felt ethereal, in a way. Like a strange elixir that kept me coming back again and again. I still get a charge out of reading old BWS books. You've got a really nice one here. I love the profile of Jenna in the second panel. I love the scenes of Conan and Burgun staging elaborate burglaries. I love the different shapes that BWS used for panels. Great pick-up, congrats!
