Assistance by Tom Gauld

      Tom Gauld is a brilliant cartoonist offering great humor in literary and scientific fields. I have enjoyed his work especially Revenge of the Librarians. When I saw Tom’s post about new originals available, I was immediately struck by this one. I waffled for a couple days, but finally went ahead. Tom a signed note with the artwork. I work for the Alameda County Library in the town where I grew up. I sometimes help out my brother’s Stuart Ng Books at conventions. My one great moment in customer service was at San Diego Comic Con. An art student had just come from talking to a Blue Sky Studios artist and asked for books on “Henry Clay.” I figured he didn’t want anything on the onetime Kentucky Senator and realized he must mean German illustrator Heinrich Kley. Of course, I have often been the clueless guy myself, especially finding the right line at busy conventions.
