So the Paybacks was 8 issues Long. The first 4 published by Dark Horse. The last 4 issues were published by Heavy Metal. Put together they told one self contained 8 Issue tale. This amazing page is from the final issue of the Heavy Metal run, and was an issue of all-out action bringing the tale to a phenomenal end.

Tell me that the character is Miracleman without saying he’s Miracleman? Easy! Just have him whisper “KIMOTA” and destroy everything in sight. Which is what happens on this page.

This is a crazy two page spread by Geoff Shaw from the super fun series the Paybacks. The team’s driver in the finale is outed as Miracleman, and he totally comes to he rescue.

The Paybacks and The Driver/ Miracleman played big roles in the Cates/ Shaw series Crossover recently, and I’m sure we’ll see them again soon.

So, what are/is The Paybacks? It is possibly the best Donny Cates book to date. I randomly picked up the collection years back and have beaten the heck out of it with read after read after read. Basically, it is the Miniseries you should be reading next.
