DescriptionThis was an artist choice commission but I made a suggestion of Star wars or Moebius as I know Gabriel is fond of both. This is what he came up with.Seems like the perfect sketchbook cover for his sketches that he regularly posts to IG and Facebook. Social/Sharing |

Based on his social media he really enjoyed working on this, and it certainly shows! Congrats on a fantastic mash-up piece. His precision and delicate touch really come through.

Long has Moebius Star Wars been a near void in the cosmic ether, with just one official Moebius piece included in Star Wars Art: Visions before his death. There should have been so much more. I think Gabriel Walta honor's what could have been with a spectacular comission. Congrats!

Moebius has always been an influence on Star Wars and it is a shame he never got to offically work on a movie or comic say the way he did Silver surfer. But Gabriel definitly comes cloes and captured the essence of both universes, while putting his own touch of linework into the art. He totally brought his A game to this piece. Thanks for commenting.

The color scheme! They are very Moebius accurate in the natural range of what he had used throughtout his career and even more noticeable in that 90's card set that had different eras of his work. Walta even does the line style of Moebius to bring this mash up illusion so believable.

Interesting you bring up the card set. I always like that era of Moebius' work. HIs designes at the time and the color technique he was using are my favorite. Probably the similarites with Gabriels work is what made me go for this commission. I was told by Moebius assistant at the time, Sylvain, that he colored a lot of those cards while Moebius did the line work. Same with some of thos Epic Marvel posters. So clearly a team effort. Glad you like this piece

Great idea!
The idea was all Gabriel. I picked themes he liked and it was basicaclly aritst choice for the commission. So all the credit should go to him.

Thanks totally agree. Walta's line work is really on point in this piece. You can totally se the Moebius influence but he made it 100% his.
