Description

"Batmen" by Sam Glanzman. First of a four-page story.

The USS Stevens's radar detects enemy aircraft, putting the ship at battle stations.

Sam drew on his World War II service aboard the destroyer USS Stevens in the Pacific to write and draw the eponymous series for DC comics.

Thank you to CAF member Dewey Cassell for letting me add "Batmen" to my World War II collection.

Very appropriate nickname for the radar operators of the naval fleet.  War isn't just won by strength, but by having the most advanced and efficient means to deploy those strengths.  Knowing an enemy's movements is key to having real time countermeasures.  Glanzman wrote and drew this entirely making it have even more meaning as he served on this boat during WWII.

Good call! You don't want it to fall into enemy hands!
