Description
Told in flashback, this issue explores Clark's early days as a resident of Metropolis.

Clark takes a job as a short-order cook and begins a friendship with one of the waitresses named Ruby.

They share a kiss in panel 5 and the following night while Clark is patrolling the city, he encounters a young Lois Lane on the run from some bad guys.

This is a page from an issue I picked up from comic book rack at a local Safeway. The ones at Safeway weren't spinners, they usually were vertical against an end of the aisle with maybe 2 to 4 columns.

That'd be something if he smashed a Ruby and made it a diamond.

The flashback storytelling adds a great layer to Clark’s early days in the city, showing him in a more grounded, relatable role before fully embracing his eventual destiny.

The moment with Ruby in panel 4 is such a rare glimpse of Clark exploring life and relationships beyond his superhero persona and stepping outside hisusual "Aw gee, shucks." personality. The contrast of him later crossing paths with a young, determined Lois Lane, already in the thick of danger, sets up their iconic dynamic beautifully. A great mix of heart and action all on one page. I need to read this again someday!

damn, this page is beautiful! it also got my mind wandering for the Elseworlds story where Clark ends up with Ruby instead.
