Description
This cover is a personal achievement for myself. Back in the 90's I had a comic shop and - of course - it was filled with wall books, many of which were the super hot books of the time (see additional pictures for a pic of my shop). I have always looked back fondly at my time owning a shop, and when I got into collecting OA, I really wanted to find an original of one of my wall books. A reminder of where I had come from all these years later, and maybe a bit to have a piece of art history from that era that most people would recognize.

About two years ago, I took a shot at the original Glory poster art when it showed up on Comic Connect (it's in the picture as well, and you know the art anyway) and it blew right past what I thought it may go for. After that, I figured that with a little luck, I might end up with one of those Hellina covers on the wall - because I think nearly everything else was out of my league. (She was a pretty hot seller back then, so that's ok - I've got some Hellina covers, but nothing from my wall!)

But then, this Shi variant by Silvestri showed up - and while I love the Tucci covers, this one in particular was my favorite of the entire series. Ana emerging from the shadows in this wonderful black cover was so striking when it came out. It also showcased Ana with a much more ominous, powerful expression - the Tucci covers were stylish and demure, Silvestri brought the ruthlessness of the character to the forefront, but retaining that sensual and mysterious aura. And he did it simply and beautifully - of course, with the masterful inks of Matt "Batt" Banning, who laid down the black in such a perfect fashion that it is rich and deep 30 years later. His controlled strokes give this cover that eloquent 'Silvestri' feel, and it's a perfect pairing.

For me, this is a very unique Silvestri piece at the height of his 90's style - I'm very fortunate to have it.

Silvestri working on Tucci's Shi showed how much the indie spirit was prevalent in the 90's.  A great example of creators helping other creators during the height of the bad girl and variant era!  This is a knockout 90's bad girl cover!

So happy that you've acquired a truly meaningful piece of art.  With your graphic design skills, do you plan to restore the other cover elements ??

I was thinking about it - I look at it here on my wall, and I love how stark it is, but I may try to recreate the dressing just to see what it looks like.
