Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks! Learning panel layouts is a pretty challenging aspect of doing your own comic!
Yes! Classic cover! I dig it!
So amazing to see a cover - they are rarities, thank you for sharing it, especially the last issue. R.I.P., Drew.
Congrats on such a great pick-up! Monumental JSC period, amazing cover.
This is a great storytelling piece by Golden - I'm not real knowledgable of Golden's work, but he pretty much brough The Nam to life when I read it back in the 80s and I can see a lot of that dynamic storytelling in the expressions here.
Totally awesome that you have both of these!
The entire book is a masterpiece from the art to the storytelling. Adam captures the emotionally crushed spirit of Fairchild and her dispirited posture amazingly. A killer splash page in - arguably - one of the most poignant Gen 13 stories of all time.
Ordinary Heroes might be the best written Gen 13 books (it's at least, my favorite). But importantly, Adam Hughes' work on this book is stellar - from the unique page layouts, to the expressions, to the accurate facial structure representation for Rainmaker, and right down to the wonderful styling of everyone's wet-soaked hair from the rain. It's a masterpiece from beginning to end - very cool to see this cover on display!
I was thinking about it - I look at it here on my wall, and I love how stark it is, but I may try to recreate the dressing just to see what it looks like.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate it!
WOW - I have to admit that I'd never seen this O'Barr piece before, it's amazing. He channels a little Bowie influence here with Jonny Zero and his depth of color is almost mesmerizing. Thank you for sharing something I'd never seen before!
Stunning piece, and congrats on getting Batt inks - I know that can be a challenge, but man, he's definitely one of the best.
A HUGE Tolibao, and he put detail in damn near every square inch of that piece. He captures the foreshoretning masterfully here, it feels like the horse is going to come right off the page at you. I always love Harvey's work, but this one is something special - nice snag!
What a wonderful piece - long ago, Ashley Wood's art had a huge influence on my own work, I love seeing his stuff from the 2000s. This prelim is a beautiful piece on it's own and carries so much of what makes his work so special. Congrats!
One of those classic covers that transcends publisher status. Congrats on picking up a historic Bronze Age piece!
Georgous painting - she belongs on the nose of a WW2 bomber!
I really like the bit of color use in this piece!
Amazing violent and early Razor page - what an awesome set of panels for one of the original BADDEST girls!
Wonderful page with all the elements that make the early Razor comic so memorable and fun. Thanks for posting your Razor art!
Always nice to see Razor art show up here on CAF - nice pick up and thanks for posting it!
Great pickup! The Jim Lee 'Deathblow' style never gets old - this is a great piece by Benjamin with just the right amount of heavy blacks and white space to nail the style perfectly!
Love the energy and motion of this piece, and the use of whitespace adds to the dynamicism - great piece!
Congrats! I can't recall if I was the underbidder on this piece - but if I wasn't I was close! I had this on my screen for over a month and studied it intently while waiting for the auction to end. A really awesome Queen piece that captures what Darkchylde was all about - thank you for posting it here, it's great to see it!
This is a great Lori Lovecraft piece, and Mike must have thought so to, since he used it to promote his work! Really nice pickup here!
This is a great cover! Congrats on landing something that is really unique!
I am completely unfamiliar with the artist or genre - but this an amazingly wonderful piece.
So much viscereal energy here, so much violence and expression crammed into the composition. Nearly all the free space is filled up with hyper detals - it's as if you opened a door, and happened across a bikini-clad agent of violence in the middle of evicerating her prey.
Sorry for the rambling - I was actually taken aback with how much I love this piece of artwork at first glance. Congrats on an evocative piece.
Love the moody, swirling liquidity of the water - we have the perfect vantage point for what sinister activities are to come, with the curious knight looking down with earnest anticipation for some sordid damsel action!
Not sure which I love more - Valkyrie or the monsters? Amazingly textural piece, love the crosshatching black background. Happy Halloween!
Congrats on another page from this amazing team of Finch/Friend. The silence in the last panel is palpable - a stunning use of whitespace.
I love Finch's work, but man - when Richard Friend inks over him, his art takes on a whole different vibe. The dark, foreboding feel permeates every panel. A superior page from an amazing art team.
Love the in-your-face bullets flyin', gun shootin', fist-fightin' close quarter combat jammed into one cover. Awesome composition!
Wow - the splash page is stunning, the black ink work is mezmerizing and it's expertly handled by Andru, and all three pages together are incredibly moody. I don't think I've ever looked at Atari Force art before today, and this was really a treat to take a look at. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for such a great write-up and background on Nick's work. This piece in particular is stunning, I have been meandering around researching Cybernary and have found my way here...
Awesome page with some great High Evolutionary panels! Thanks for posting it!
That top panel is great!, the contrast in the bridge/architecture makes the entire page balance out very nicely.
Aside from this being a great team cover - how awesome is it that JSC seemed to nail every character's facial expression to match their personality? Such a great throwback to my 90's faves.
It's always nice to see Miss Fury on CAF - and Tucci had a great run of covers for the character, this one is a stunning piece and uses the white space very effectively!
That must be absolutely STUNNING at 27"x40" in size! Congrats, as this is the piece you were telling me about - a crown jewel amongst many wonderful pieces in your collection - thanks for sharing it here!
Congrats on a very early Linsner piece! CFD #1 was published in April of 1989, and it was self-published, but heavily promoted at conventions, which resulted in early popularity. I'm merely guessing, I don't think this predates CFD, but it's definitely early on after #1 was released when people first saw the character. Really awesome piece of history you have here, thanks for sharing it!
