I like the second image better, where the textures are more visible. I think that's so important when looking at oils and/or acrylics.

Jorge Mascarenhas taps into the theatrical style of bone-chilling atmopshere of Robert Eggers movies. The Roanoke folklore of haunted horror comes to mind with a color palette that wickedly shrouds and disguises the presence of evil.

You nailed it! His color pallete works great with his horror work. Most of his new stuff is digital hybrid, but still same use of colors.

Haunting! I like the concept of a sheep as the devil. I've imagined Lucifer or demons as ox-eyed sheep/goats and used that in drawings before. Something sinister to me about having eyes on the side of the head. Love that dark forest, but I'm puzzled by the inky hands

I forgot to get back to you about those inky hands. The artist just told me something he did that is open for interpretation. They can be your own narrative.
