S. Clay Wilson Pirate Sketch - 1958

This is a piece of original art by underground comix legend and ZAP co-founder S. Clay Wilson. This drawing, done when Wilson was 17, shows one of his favorite subjects – pirates. It shows more of his later style than some of the other pirate drawings Wilson did in his youth. It also has a surprisingly warm-hearted sentiment. Pen and ink on pink paper (12 x 9 inches.) Signed and dated by Wilson, who at that age was signing as Steven Wilson.
This drawing was obtained through BLAB editor Monte Beauchamp who got it directly from Wilson.
