Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of men?

I think you know. So does Howard Chaykin in this remarkable illustration. I just loved The Shadow series he drew in the 80s and I have one page from it with Lamont Cranston on it. I always wanted one with him in his full Shadow garb, and thanks to Bill and the CAF interview and sale with Howard, I have one. Howard's a lot like The Shadow, they're both tough and tell it like it is. But luckily Howard doesn't carry twin Colt 45s. Or does he?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Jelly belly here. The foreshadowing of the automatic is perfection. This would be a great pulp spot illustration.

A fantastic piece! Chaykin’s Shadow work in the ’80s had such a bold, gritty energy, and it’s great that you were able to land an illustration of him in full Shadow garb. And yeah, Chaykin’s no-nonsense attitude definitely shares some DNA with The Shadow. Let’s just hope he sticks to wielding his pen instead of twin .45s! But does Howard even have them? Only the Chaykin knows!
