Description
Weapon Echh! Splash page by Ryan Tavarez! (A Bootleg Weapon X Homage of the BWS Classic)

I picked this up at the very cool Indie Creator con in Connecticut last month.

A little about the show: Indie Comics Creator Con (IC3) is not just another comic book convention. It's a ground-breaking event that uniquely focuses on creators and those who champion independent art and ideas. IC3 provides a dynamic and inclusive platform for independent artists, writers, and publishers to showcase their talents and connect with an engaged audience. This annual event, held at Southern Connecticut State University is a celebration of the spirit of creativity, community, and camaraderie within the world of comics.

A little about the book Weapon Echhh!: In 1991 comic book luminary Barry Windsor-Smith told, for the very first time, the mysterious origin of Marvel’s Wolverine.

Serialized in the anthology showcase Marvel Comics Presents, Windsor-Smith wrote, drew, and colored a comic that influenced yet another generation of cartoonists.

Following in the bootleg jam tradition of books like Shitty Watchmen and Bartkira over 50 creators reimagined Weapon X into the riotous, riveting, and revenge-filled Weapon Echh!

And at last, a bit about Ryan: I’ve had the pleasure of talking with Ryan at least twice at the IC3 show. Both times were really effortless, because on top of being an amazing artist, he’s also a super nice person. I had a great time flipping thru his art, and all I regret is that I only bought 1 page.

This beautiful page is red pencils and inks on 11x17 bristol.
