Such grace, such beauty... Oh, Odalisque <3
Sometimes the gods smile upon one.... such was my astounding luck to happen upon this on eBay. I had never seen George's work up close and the images online looked like a print. It was fortunate that the seller lived nearby. I messaged asking if i could view it in person and ended up driving to a flea market about an hour away. The information on the back of the work was typical - and George's home address and title were in his hand. Still, George's work is so fine that even seeing it in person I did not completely believe it was real. The seller produced a jewelers loop and examining it under magnification I saw a tiny area in the margin which revealed only the minutest aspect of human error- where the pen had slipped and white was used to cover it and re-pen. The only reason the white even showed was because the board had slightly yellowed over time. I've never run to the bank faster in my life!!! I am daily grateful for such a beauteous thing as she.

side note: i could not find that this was published anywhere. On isfdb there is a mention of an Odalisque #2 published but it is a different one! This one is either number 1 or 3. (I had it framed without taking a picture of the back. If i find a pic on my phone i will update this description.

Impressive when it's all hand done. This has a mesmerizing effect from the instensly woven patternwork!
