Description
Original artwork for a story published in a British boys' annual in the 1930s/40s. The artwork is signed 'Kearon' so possibly this is early artwork by Ted Kearon who later gained prominence for work in the Lion magazine (or maybe it's not him at all!)

These are two panels glued together which would have been used separately over the length of the story.

Interesting anti soviet story. It seems the publishers later lost their nerve and changed the title of the story to 'The Boy who Defied Intimidation' (see paste up in additional images). Speculating again, I guess this could have had something to do with the war time alliance with the Soviet Union.

What a great piece of history here. I love your mention of how the changed the title to not be so confrontational. They should have kept it, but that's just me. Thanks for posting this
