This was my first-ever Jim Towe commission. 6" x 9"

The letterboxed design makes everything pop. I love the front-on perspective and the optic blast about to fire. You immediately understand Scott is backed up against the wall, but he's not backing down. You are seeing the action from the perspective of the aggressor. For a smaller half-body piece, it's got an incredibly strong narrative quality.

I also love how Jim puts the signage in, albeit cut off, drawing your eye and giving your brain that few seconds of a puzzle to figure out it says "No Mutants!" I also love the finer details with the small divots in the wall. You question where this is DOFP or a grimey inner city NYC?

I didn't immediately follow up on this piece, but it stuck with me, which led to a whole series of pieces that became the whole point of this specific gallery.
