Description

Beautiful Gustaf Tenggren illustration from his days before Disney. Tenggren was of course known for his Rackham-influenced work during the golden era of Disney films (on Snow White, Fantasia, Bambi, etc). But before joining Disney in 1936, Tenggren had an important illustration career in books and advertising. This art is from that earlier era. Dated 1927, this is typical of Tenggren�s rich, light-filled style. Mixed media on board (11� x 15�).

So much life in this piece with the man's body language and his hands showing the emotional torture of begging for forgiveness! The woman's face is steely cold with delicious contempt! Oh and that lighting trying to give him divine blessing is so clever!

I thought she is maybe thinking 'I'm not in the mood....' - it's a magnificent illustration!!!
