Description

On a Venn diagram the overlap between those who have an interest in comic art and those who have an interest in UK football ('soccer') must be quite small, and doesn't include me. However, I'm uploading this because it's another part of the 'Christopher Tomms puzzle'. The Boss strip was published in the 1970s by Express newspapers. According to an old post on Bear Alley it was originally written by Jim Edgar, and according to some proofs that I have, for a period of time it was drawn by Neville Colvin, of Modesty Blaise fame.

The much inferior art shown here (possibly a rough draft) is by Christopher Tomms. The collection of his works I acquired also included proofs of earlier 'The Boss' strips by other artists, a cheque from Express newspapers made payable to him, and copies of Tomms' 'The Boss' strip sent to (or from) Conrad Frost, the strip writer of 'George and Lynn' fame. See additional images for pictures of these.

From this shaky evidence we can maybe conclude that Tomms, for a period of time, also drew the Boss strip and that for this same period of time Conrad Frost was the author. However, I stand to be corrected.
