Description
I always say that Invasion (outside of multi-media like Super Powers and Super Friends) introduced me
to the wider DC Universe. I am forever fond of Invasion. It has two of my favorite things put together,
Super-Heroes in Outer Space!

This page (from a beloved Spinner Rack comic) features the Dominator who set off the Gene Bomb
dreams that the reward for his war-time efforts may be elevation to a higher rank or even an actual
name!

A page that features one of Dominators really locks this down as an Invasion page. The Dominators
were one of the five species that formed the alliance of invaders that weren't really seen outside of their
large presence in the far-flung future of the Legion of Super-Heroes. A Dominator was featured on the
cover to issue #1, the TPB, the House AD and Promotional Poster because they were the orchestrators or ringleaders of the entire plot against the DC Heroes. So even if you never read Invasion, and you read comics at the time, you were probably bombarded with the imagery of the Dominators, which tends
to make this page a memorable stand-out when it comes to the particulars of the cross-over event.

This is deep cut DC stuff!  Vintage Sears from out the vaults!  Space DC?  May I recommend to you Cosmic Odyssey?

The Dominators were the most visually terrifying abnd the most ruthless of the Legion foes. They had no compunction about destroying millions of lives to acheive their objective. Congrats on a cool page with a Dominator.

Nice art from Sears! As much of a "space guy" as I am personally, panel 4 and the close up in panel 5 is my fav image from this page. So Dominators have castes, but no names? Or only the highest caste gets that privelage? Educate me prof!

Yes, typically Dominators have no names and the most important Dominator Castes (Admirals, Ambassadors, etc) have the largest dots. However, there are later examples of rebellious or abandoned Dominators who end up with names. (Usually b/c they are supporting characters in some kind of ongoing title, so they need a name!) This guy is mostly fantasizing in vain. It's mostly taboo to even have a name and the high-command isn't as happy with his actions as he thinks.

It's so interesting that Sears chose to draw this closer to what McFarlane was doing!

And to think, the Dominators failed here only to covertly conquer Earth a mere 1,000 years later (give or take a few years).
