The Mystery Legionnaire!
written by Cary Bates

Page 2 of story

The body of the criminal Android Klim has escaped and is headed to reunite with it's head to seek revenge on the Legionnaire that decapitated it.
At Legion headquarters, the three Legionnaires (Cosmic Boy, Shrinking Violet and Chemical King) that defeated it review it's origin.
(Mole Man seems to have made a cameo appearance)
Chemical King was one of my favorite, but little used Legionnaires, so it is nice to pick up these pages that spotlight him.
His powers, the ability to speed up or slow down chemical reactions, apparently tasked the writer's imaginations. So much so that he was killed off in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #228 (1977) while stopping Deregon, an agent of the Dark Circle, from starting World War VII.

I don't know how to love Win
What to do, how to move Klim
I've been changed, yes really changed
Win Decaps few ways
When I've seen myself
I seem like someone else

Jack Abel now would make this
I don't see my head moves me
He's a man, he's robot fan
Android had so many men before
In body many ways
He's Mortimer

Should Vi shrink Klim down?
Should I Chemical?
Should I King of love?
Let my feelings out?

I never thought I'd Cosmic wish
What's Klim all about?

Don't you think it's rather funny?
I should be in this new prison
Klim the one who's always been
So calm, so cool
Not ever good
Running body shows
He scares me so

See the flashing lights, hear the thunder roar
I am gonna set you all alight
Gotta make it, man, I ain't got a choice
Gotta fill this hall tonight

Helpless (helpless)

I know why Chemical King was one of your favorite, but little used Legionnaires, but everyone else reading your description who knows and enjoys the Legion must wonder WHY such a little used character was one of your favourites. Why not reveal your secret? Love the Mole Man!

No big secret - my undergrad degree was in Chemical Engineering, so I have an affinity for Chemical King.
