Dream Girl Sketch Card by Jeff Moy

Jeff was in the mood to do a Legionnaire for his WhatNot warmup sketch card, and I suggested he continue his little series of drawing Legionnaires from the old Warner Brothers cartoon! He went with Dream Girl this time, and very kindly kept up the space background theme he'd given all the other animated Legion cards.

To make a long story short, I absolutely love this card! I think Jeff's colour work here is some of his very best. He used maybe half a dozen different markers to get the blue-grey colour of her suit just right, and he put a lot of care into colouring her hair so that it's fully shaded but still comes across as being white and not grey. I think it's also worth noting that if I could pull off that light blue shade of lipstick she's wearing, I would probably wear it every day, but that's neither here nor there. And, of course, I love the space background! I like that this one is a bit more teal that the backgrounds of my other cards, which meshes very nicely with the colour of her costume.

Once again, Jeff did a fantastic job blending his own style with the very unique style of the cartoon. He kept Nura's big, expressive eyes, but gave her a little bit more of that rounder face shape he's known for. Also, huge props to him for somehow managing to include the big lock of hair that falls over her forehead while still keeping the rest of her face properly proportioned and visible!
