I adored Mike Carey’s run on X-Men which I read in the collected SuperNova’s hardcover.

Carey collaborated with Bachalo, Humberto Ramos, Mark Brooks and others for a mature story that played into all the pathos, danger and sci fi concepts that I love about the X-men. Great character work with Iceman and Cannonball, Cable, Mystique and Rogue.

Rogue in particular got a killer design by Bachalo and led the team. In this lead up issue to #200, Rogue is reeling from previous battles but shows up to face the Hecatomb, a Shi’ar weapon that absorbs minds to the tune of 8 billion trapped consciousness.

“That so? Well then, this one — kinda writes itself, no?”

It's essentially a Rogue splash with her dominating the page with her hood and cloak design showing the more angry persona they went with!

Awesome page from a very underrated X-Men run by Mike Carey. I loved the roster of heroes and villains that he chose for Rogue's team. My only disappointment was that this run didn't last longer before going into the Messiah Complex story arc. Congrats on a great pickup!
