The King Must Die - Paperback cover 1976

A very striking work that instantly informs us of the themes and motifs within the book of the ancient world, their culture, and their beliefs.  Like all art from that kind of cover, the elements are arranged in a compact manner to allows the publisher to crop it the way they want. 

No idea who did this cover, but regardless, it's a nice piece of art and I'd have been really chuffed to find the original cover art from a book I read as a youngster and still own the very same copy of, suddenly appear up for grabs at auction. Even better, the unknown artist and little known book means little competition and a pretty cheap win!

Cool looking painted piece! Hopefully the info on the artist emerges eventually but either way nice addition especially if it's a book you read so long ago and still have on your shelf!
