Signed bottom middle.From Heritage Auctions: "A preliminary of Hildebrandt's beautiful pin-up painting set in a swanky nightclub, Emerald Evening... the first painting created by the renowned fantasy artist when he decided he wanted to create vintage pin-up paintings! One of two preliminary studies created for this painting -- Hildebrandt would usually created one for line and one for color -- and this one truly captures the essence of the final painting. Mixed media with an image area of 10.5" x 16", matted and glass-front framed to 13" x 18.75". Signed by Hildebrandt in the bottom image area. Presents in Excellent condition." Super excited to get this important historical work, since I can't afford the final at $40,000! Yes, it's true this is his very first AMERICAN BEAUTIES pin-up! I can't believe my luck. I wanted this one, and was fortunate enough to see it in person before I won (lucky me!) and she is matted and framed behind museum glass. (He did a pencil first, then he does the color comp). The final painting has been the topic of much discussion in many articles with Greg, especially when asked what made him decide to do pin-ups in 2000. She is beautiful. Influenced by Tempest Storm, "The Queen Of Exotic Dancers," an American burlesque star and motion picture actress. The audience is full of Greg's friends. Pure fun.
