Description
Stephen Fabian - Conan Print Series Plate I Original Art (Fictioneer Books, 1976). The world's most famous fictional barbarian is set to battle an evil Djinn while defending a damsel-in-distress atop a serpent god altar. The Conan figure here was later repurposed for the cover of David Anthony Kraft's Comics Interview #13 in 1984, and again as the dust jacket of the 2005 book Wings in the Night: The Weird Works of Robert E. Howard, Volume 4. A detail of the Djinn was used as the cover for DAK's Comics Interview #103, and a detail of the woman and the serpent altar was used as a cover for DAK's Comics Interview #127 in 1993. Fabian really hit all the notes with this composition created edge-to-edge in acrylic on 16" x 20" canvas wrapped board.

From Stephen Fabian's website: CONAN POSTER I - An acrylic painting on a 16 x 20 size canvas board. This is the first of three "Conan" poster paintings I did for Fictioneer Books in 1976. The Conan figure in the painting also appears on the dust jacket of the book, "Wings in the Night" by Robert E. Howard, published by Wildside Press in 2005.

Exceptionally painted textures with the gold altar and the mists of the djinn framing a traditionally heroic Conan and a sensually posed damsel to hit new heights in fantasy.
