Now THAT is an unbeatable Marvel page! Hulk battling Surfer/Herc/IM by Sal? Congrats!
Powerhouse vs powerhouse! The way we like it.
The action on this page is totally awesome! Building from the first panel to the last. Huge congrats!
Epic page!
Only the Hulkster can pull off this 1v3, ridiculous...!
Great page with fantastic action in every single panel. Sal perfection.
Perfection indeed - thanks!
The Surfer, Iron Man, Hercules... the Hulk takes on all comers in this fantastic action page from on of the best comics in Sal's run! Great pick-up, Dave!!!!
An absolute stone cold stunner of a Sal B page from issue 200. huge congrats!!!
Woah! What an amazing battle page . Sal's style really shines in this
Sal's run on this book was truly one of the most epic runs in Marvel Comics history. While it was a great ride throughout, I have to say that personally speaking (and with all due respect to the other incredible inkers) that the early issues that Joe Staton inked are my absolute favorite. I remember this 200th issue well. And congratulations on scoring such a spectacular example from it. This page is just so, so, beautiful. It's been a while since I flipped through these issues, but seeing this gem of a page just makes me want to go dig them out and enjoy them all over again (like the way you're enjoying this beauty right now). Big time congrats!
Thanks Eric! I sooo agree with you re those early Sal Hulk issues. He really seemed to pour himself into the issues as he took the mantle from Herb's long and epic run on the title. And Joe Staton's inks were the PERFECT compliment to Sal. His inks were so true to Sal's pencils and created magic (much like Joe Sinnot did later in the run). Sal was inked by so many guys over the years and many brough their own flair to his pencils (Ernie, Alfredo, Talaoc) but nobody stayed true to Sal's lines than the 2 Joes.
As you and others have said, Sal's (long) run on the Hulk was amazing. Joe Staton's inks were perfect, and really made the lines shine while adding to the fluidity of the action. And to cap this all off, issue #200 was one of their best comics in that partnership, with so many high-octane action pages and so many opponents. It was sort of like Sal's "Many Foes Has the Hulk". Perhaps I'm biased, having a page from that issue myself...
Thanks! and an exquisite page you have - of the Hulk many more of his foes!
Anniversary comics pulled not punches back then! Before crossovers were so commonplace, this Hulk issue put shine on everyone that appeared and got people interested in their titles too. This is an unbelievable dream match up battle! For kids, the stakes were high to prove your favorite character's power levels to beat another kid's favorite.
Awesome page and it's great that it's signed by the main creators!
Love this page, pure Sal awesomeness. This is how I think of the Hulk in my head, perfect artwork!
Action packed page with Hulk doing what he does best.
Dave, Incredible page this one battling the Heroes is truly amazing. This anniversary issue is closing in on 50 years published very shortly.
Dave, Incredible page with the Hulk facing the heroes. This anniversary issue is closing in on 50 years published.
50 years in 2026, wow!
So glad it arrived! Not everyday that you get Hulk beating up Silver Surfer with his own board!
Thanks! You aren't kidding, I was sweating a lot while the package was showing as lost.
Gorgeous!
Fantastic page ! Truly love Staton on Sal ...
Congrats !
An INCREDIBLE, action-packed page! Every panel is a literal banger. Congrats!
A true banger indeed, with a THOOM, CHUD, and SPOW! Thanks ML!!!
Sockamagee!
A glorious battle page! Congrats!
Awesome page from a very special issue!
Really cool! Congrats!
Thanks Eelco, much appreciated!
Okay this awesome Hulk page got the Surfer beaten up, and IM as well in great action panels but this last panel with Hercules stomped by the Hulk saying bearded man is strong but Hulk is stronger totally made my day ! Thanks for sharing and huge congrats
Thanks! I love the classic Hulk quotes and the Marvel sound effects from this era a ton. So many good things going on with this page. I am fortunate to be able to add it.
Smashing Sal page!
Herc vs. Hulk = big crater
Superb action page! Nice description and story despite the fright!
Sweet action page Dave! Glad everything worked out in the end!
ACTION! Great page!
amazing page buddy, couldnt ask for a more action packed piece
Congrats Dave! Beautiful page.
Awesome!
Thanks - even as SS get's SPOWed! by his own board!
The Hulk hits a screaming Silver Surfer line drive that's caught by Iron Man that results in both of them being out!
Just like Roy hobbs swinging Wonderboy, Hulk always smashes it out of the park!
Awesome page!
Many congrats on a fantastic page, Dave! And despite the difficulties in shipping faced, it is wonderful that everything came good in the end.
Super page!
Tree-men-dus! Wowee, wow, wow! Action to beat all action, with Hulk taking Hercules's best shot and beating him down! This is a Sal Buscema/Hulk collector's wet dream come true! Congratulations.
One odd thing, to me. Surfer referred to his board as "...my gleaming board." I'd think he'd call it his cosmic board. A little thing, to be sure, but I thought it felt odd.
All out action! Love the storytelling top to bottom, and each panel's like its own splash! Congrats!
