Description

According to Sal Abbinanti, Ross's virtual right-hand man, this is a “pre-Marvel Marvel” which Ross painted “about ten years ago” (around 1994). The fantasy hair, the supermodel face, the saucy attitude and the outfits make this an exceptional pin up. Alex Ross is arguably the top artist depicting comic characters alive today. His forte is showing heroic figures in a realistic fashion while, at the same time, enhancing their mythic quality. Judging from Xen, Medusa is a favorite of Ross but has never been rendered again in as attractive a fashion. This piece is slightly oversized, 13.5" by 17". I finally got an image that shows the true paper color without wrecking up the image color. The apparent color of the piece changes more than usual depending on the light.
