So evocative of war is hell. Wonderfully detailed art!
thanks peter,
that is so true.
A nice range of pencil shading and hatching techniques, that give this a highly textured feel.
thanks paul,
Paul said that it was donein pencil first and then earased when he used ink and ink with brush it gives in depth to the piece.
Powerful imagery of the horrors (physical and mental) of war, illustrated with meticulous technique and skill by Mosse. Great addition/pickup during CAL.
Thank you kavi.
Even the pages Geoff did for the graphic novel were beautifully dod. But I was very happy to get this cover.
Brian
Trench warfare summed up in one image of death and despair.
Plus the fact that many soldier's have to relive the horror every dat.
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Even more so when I have a Blue Charm on.
Well said.
Immediately makes me think of the Peter Jackson documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old. Very powerful!
Very good point.
Stunning!
yes indeed.
The devastation of war in a nutshell.
it can almost be a movie poster. Geoff told me this was supposed to be a splash in the graphic novel, It turned out so well that they used it for the cover.
Wow. Very somber scene set in the midst of a war The mood is one of death and despair. The barbed wire, the dead soldier, the trenches and the solitary soldier holding his head in anguish. It reminds me of stories my Grandfather told me about serving in the US Army during WWI. He lived in those trenches, his friends died in them. This is the closest art I've ever seen to what it must have been like. Artist Geoff Mosse has captured that desolation and pain with incredible realism. To say I am blown away by this piece would be an understatement.
thank you Bill. it really sums up the effect of war on soldiers perfectly .
